East decay

Although most buildings in both east and west Berlin have been renovated, you sometimes run across one that hasn't yet been modernized. I find the decay has a certain beauty, but with property prices on the rise here in Berlin, I'm sure it won't be long before this building gets a make-over. This is a prime spot near the Hackeschermarkt and I'm sure the owner will get a pretty penny for it!

  1. I am glad I enlarged the photograph, The balcony is even more dilapidated than it appeared in the smaller photo. An investment for Mr. and Mrs. Halcyon?

  3. It feels desolate... but there's potential there. Terrific angle for the shot!

  4. When I first went to East Germany at the beginning of the 1990s, the decay was absolutely incredible and for the most part, very ugly....

  5. What a stupid title what do you mean by "east decay" ? And one other thing in the early 90s there was no more an East Germany. People should have a bit more instruction concerning Berlin in general.

  7. As "they" say, the place appears to have "good bones," and will make for a remarkable structure when it's been renovated!
