25 years!

It's hard to believe it's been twenty-five years since the Berlin Wall fell. It has been so interesting seeing all the films and interviews with people on how life was before the wall fell. I love the personal stories especially. This photo was taken at the Lichtgrenze last night at Checkpoint Charlie. I'm going back into town tonight to see the balloon release. Hope I can get some more nice photos of the event. Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

  1. somehow, it seems that it should be much longer than 25 yrs ago... like it should be a part of our distant past.

  2. All the weekend newspapers have lots of pages with the anniversary! Interesting reading and some really good documentary images.
Celebrate and remember there are many people all over who remember where they were, when they heard the BIG news.

  3. I was a kid at the time, but old enough that I have clear memories of that night on the news. What a momentous time it was.

  4. There is lots of attention for it on Dutch television as well. Hard to believe that it was 25 years ago.

  5. I lived in Berlin BEFORE the wall fell - even though I lived there only a year, that city had such a deep impression - I still can remember details (of course also of Check point Charley)!

  11. U.S. news was full of this momentous occasion. Tom Brokaw happened to be in Berlin on another news investigation when this event occurred. And it seems that your city is really popular for young tourists to visit. How great is that?

  14. 25 years - what a great celebration. I lived in East Berlin and it was a grim grim place back then.

  15. I agree that I cannot believe it has already been 25 years. That means there are many Germans who cannot remember what living under Soviet rule was like!
