Gedächtniskirche

A quick peek for you inside the new part of the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church. The old part of the church was mostly destroyed during the bombings of WWII, and afterwards it was decided that the church should remain that way as a reminder of the damages of war. However, a new and separate chapel was built right next door - and here it is! It's really lovely to walk inside on a sunny day, you just feel enveloped in blue!

  3. I have very strong memories of this place from our first visit to Berlin. We were staying just off the Ku'dam a few blocks away and it was a short walk. Good picture of a powerful place.

  5. The blue has to be a reference to the sky. it gives a kind of feeling coming to rest. Nice atmospheric space.
