Nivea bear

Another bear sighting! This one is in front of the Nivea Haus on Unter den Linden. It's Wednesday and you'll find more signs here.

Blue sky bear

Another bear from my visit on German Unity Day. This one is from the state of Saarland. He's got plenty going on from his head to his toes!

PS: I am posting more regularly on my travel blog at the moment, please stop by Halcyon Travels for more of beautiful Lisbon.

Celebrating Hessen

To celebrate German Unity Day, the houses of the different German Bundesländer were open to the public. There was food and music typical to each of the states as well as stands showing off the best sites and tourist attractions. It was fun to see inside all of the different buildings and I was happy to snap some new Buddy Bears. This one is from the state of Hessen.

PS: I'm posting more regularly on my travel blog, Halcyon Travels. You can find it here.

Sylt bear

This Buddy Bear represents the German island of Sylt. It's located in the North Sea and is a very popular summer destination for well-heeled Germans. There's even a salad dressing named for the place (though I don't like it much).

Today is a holiday in Germany and I spent most of it playing in a golf tournament. Unfortunately, it's back to the grind for me tomorrow, but at least this little break has made the week a bit shorter.

Upside down, inside out?

Here's a funny bear for you! He's called the Pablo bear after none other than Pablo Picasso. I found him outside the Europa Center. He was designed by German artist Jurgen Wolke. Another one for the Buddy Bear archives. More signs can be found at Signs, Signs.

European bear

I found this cute Buddy Bear when I was out and about awhile back. I love how all the European countries are represented with their flags. I hope you'll indulge me this week and consider this a mural, you'll find more at Monday Mural.

Nikolaiviertel

It's been awhile since I've featured a buddy bear, so I thought I'd show you this cute and colorful guy who watches over the historic Nikolaiviertel

PS: After three interviews, I am soon to be amongst the gainfully employed! Thanks for all of your positive thoughts and encouraging words. I know they helped.

Bogey bear

Meet Bogey Bear, he's one of two Buddy Bears at my golf club. He was created by artist Rolf Kinkel.

His other side shows the golf club's logo. Do you like his blue side or green side better? It's sign time again and you'll find more of them at Signs, Signs.

Slot bear

A buddy bear with a built-in slot machine. Bonus reflections of the buildings on Potsdamer Platz in the window behind him. Friday has rolled around again, thank goodness! Do you have any big plans for the weekend? I'll be on the golf, but only early as it's going to be HOT! Don't forget to check Weekend Reflections for more reflective shots.

For peace

The Buddy Bear of peace greets you from behind a glass wall at the Auswaertiges Amt! For more signs, take a look at Signs, Signs.

Bertha von Steglitz

I have walked by Berta bear many times and thought, I've got to take a picture of her. Luckily for you, the last time I was at the Forum Steglitz I did. Of course, I love her red tones, but I also think her mosaic style is very appealing. Hope you agree!

June theme day: Stylish

Here's a group of stylish Buddy Bears for you! I especially like the "Berlin" style of the bear on the right. It's hard to believe a new month is starting. Where does the time go? You can see more examples of Stylish from around the world by clicking here.

PS: I've got a stylish Viennese mural up today on my travel blog. You can see it here.

Schlaubär

This wise bear sits in front of the Springer Science and Media headquarters. He was designed and painted by artist Andreas Bitters, who has done quite a few other Buddy Bears including Rixi, the bear who welcomes visitors to Rathaus Neukölln and who has already been featured on my blog here.

PS: If you're missing my normal Monday Mural contribution, just check out my travel blog.

Tierpark bear

Finding a Buddy Bear is always such a treat! This colorful model can be found in  Hauptbahnhof. He was painted in 2006 to commemorate the 50 year anniversary of Berlin's Tierpark, not to be confused with the Zoological Garten.

February theme day: What I would miss

Having only moved to Berlin a little more than a year ago, it's hard to say what I would miss if I had to leave. I definitely like the Buddy Bears though and I'd be sad to live in a city that didn't have some cute kind of mascot like them. This dapper bear welcomes visitors to Rathaus Schöneberg. During the "divided days" it served as the Town Hall for the city of West Berlin. John Kennedy made his famous Ich bin ein Berliner speech right here on the building's front steps. Which brings up another thing I love about Berlin, all the history.

A new month is here - January seemed to fly by! For more interpretations on this month's theme click here.

Neukölln bear

Here's another bright Berliner Bear for you! His colors especially stand out against the grey skies we've been having lately. I found him guarding bicycles outside the Rathaus Neukölln.

King of the Bears!

Here's another Buddy Bear for you today! I recently met the creators of the Berlin Buddy Bears in person. They had a lot of exciting stories to tell, the Buddy Bears have been all over the world - even to North Korea! I found this guy outside the Park Inn in Wilmersdorf.

Patent bear

I found this Buddy Bear outside the offices of a patent lawyer. So I guess his name Patent Bear is fitting!

Smelling the flowers

I found this bright Buddy Bear near Emser Platz. I always enjoy seeing the bears and photographing them. This one fits in very well with his surroundings!

TV Tower bear

It's another one of those cute Berlin Buddy Bears! I found this guy in the lobby of the TV Tower and when he gets tired, he can always take a seat on that bright bench!
