I hope you enjoy this look at the golf course today. Unfortunately, I think my Friday afternoon rounds are a thing of the past now. But there's always next year! I'm off to Israel early tomorrow morning, but I'll be back towards the end of the month. I'll have plenty of pictures to show on my return, I'm sure. If you can't wait until then, check out my Instagram feed or follow me on Facebook. Until then, you can see more reflections here and more skies here.

Impromptu memorial
Visitors to any of the major European cities have probably encountered a Stolperstein or two, but I have never seen one graced with flowers and candles before.
Friends or family of Bertha Pohl must have passed by and left this little impromptu memorial. I rather like it - it certainly caught my eye and made me remember how grateful we should be for our happy and carefree lives. It wasn't so long ago that people were persecuted just for being who they were. It was a dark period of German history that I am glad is over, but one that we must never forget.

Foreign affairs
Here's a little look at last night's modern dance show. The performance was part of the Foreign Affairs festival which is going on all over the city. You probably weren't really supposed to take pictures, but I snuck in a few.
The work is entitled Barbarians and it was performed and choreographed by the Hofesh Shechter Company. I really loved the show - I was totally enthralled from the first minute to the last. It was actually the world premier, so I feel really lucky to have seen it! You can see a little video of the performance in rehearsal here. Enjoy!

Wet bicycle
This was one of my "tamer" choices for this month's theme day. I was out and about a few days ago when the skies opened up and it started to pour. Luckily I found a sheltered spot under some arcades and I snapped this shot with my iPhone.
Do you have any big plans for the weekend? It's going to be hot here, but I'll be out on the golf course anyway. I'm also going to a modern dance show on Saturday. Don't forget to stop by Weekend Reflections.
PS: It's back to square one with my job search. I found out yesterday that I didn't get the position. I am really disappointed, but I don't know what I could have done differently. I just hope there's another "dream job" out there, because this one was pretty much everything I wanted.

Looking down
I showed you the wonderful cupola of the Martin Gropius Bau a few days ago, now here's the beautifully tiled floor. I'm going to be away for a few days (yes, it's another holiday weekend here), but I'll be back next week. Hopefully with new photos!

Profusion of pink
The rhododendrons in my MiL's garden are looking spectacular! I think this has been one of the best springs ever in Berlin... or maybe I just think that every year. Hope you are having an enjoyable weekend. Thursday was a holiday here, sorry for my sporadic posting and commenting, I hope these beautiful blossoms will make up for it!
Chestnuts
The chestnuts are blooming around town. There are pink and white varieties, I personally prefer the pink.
May theme day: Revolution
It's a downward spiral at the West Berlin museum (which oddly enough is located in the former East Berlin!). Photos were not really allowed, but I snuck this one with my iPhone.
It's a new month and you can see more interpretations on the theme Revolution by clicking here.

Geometry
Looking up inside one of the few radomes (bubble things) that hasn't been touched. It was already pretty monochrome in its original state, but I liked it even better with added black and white.

Signs of the times
Another look at the old listening station on Teufelsberg. I do hope the artists will be able to fund a restoration effort. It would be a shame for this piece of history to become another commercialized property. For more signs, visit Signs, Signs.

More from Teufelsberg
These two works are painted on the inside of one of the old, tattered listening stations on Teufelsberg.
Maybe it's the lack of color, but there is something haunting about these images. For more murals, visit Monday Mural.
PS: I'm back in Berlin and hope to get caught up visiting all the blogs soon. Hope you enjoyed the posts while I was away.

Maybe famous
I believe this is a portrait of someone famous, but I'm not sure who! I found her at the old American listening station on Teufelsberg. This photo was also among my choices for this month's theme. For more murals, take a look at Monday Mural.

Happy New Year!
My husband and I spent our first night in the apartment last night! I think it was a good way to ring in the New Year. We walked the streets around our new home and stopped to look at some of the many fireworks displays going on. These are not professional displays - these are just from regular people. I think we saw more fireworks here than we did last year at the Brandenburg Gate.

Christmas magic!
I didn't make it to as many Christmas Markets this year as I would have liked. I did however find the time to visit the one that takes place at Gendarmenmarkt. It is a large, commercial market, but the decorations (as you've seen) are beautiful! At least one visit during the season is a must. For more signs, head to Signs, Signs.
PS: Hope you have an easy slide into 2015!

Another tree!
This giant tree graces the Christmas Market at Gendarmenmarkt. It's simply decorated, but so pretty - especially with the cathedral in the background.

Monochrome holidays
A drive-by shot of the Brandenburg Gate during the holiday season. Hope you have had a wonderful weekend, I'm looking forward to 2015 and you?

Holiday reflections
I found these stars and snowflakes on the entrance to the modern Hotel Q on Gendarmenmarkt. I'm pretty sure this hotel would be out of my price range, but it looks like a nice place to stay. Head over to Weekend Reflections for more!

Something different
When my husband and I visited the Christmas Market last night, we decided to try something different. Instead of the traditional Glühwein, I tried a Jagtee and he had a Lumbamumba. Both were delicious! Today I'm back at the apartment finishing up the IKEA closet. It seems like there are so many details to work out before we can really move in. A little Jagtee would really hit the spot right about now, in fact!
