Mural in the making

A few artists were hard at work on this mural exhibition in Steglitz. A new urban art gallery opened in Berlin just a few weeks ago. Perhaps this work was tied to that? More murals of all kinds can be found at Monday Mural.

Another coffee house

Here's a look inside another cafe that I like to frequent, the GM 26. It is a bit further from my home, but still within walking distance. It's an especially nice place to go in the summer as they have a really nice outdoor terrace.

As I said yesterday, when chocolate cake is on the menu, I can't resist. This piece was so good, I forgot to take a picture until I was about halfway in. Oooops!

Berlin landmarks

I found this funny mural on the wall of a bakery at the Rathaus Steglitz S-Bahn station. I love how Berlin's most iconic landmarks have been depicted in bread - from the Baguette Brandenburger Tor to the Doughnut Welt Balloon. Pretty funny stuff! A new week has begun - get your weekly mural fix at Monday Mural.

August theme day: Bicycle

Berlin is a city chock full of bicycles and bicycle riders, so I was very excited about finally having a monthly theme with lots of possibility. I found many more "traditional" bike shots, but this crazy display caught my eyes a few days ago on Schloßstrasse in Steglitz. I have no idea how or why someone hung these bicycles on the streetlamp, but there they are! Another mystery for the ages.

Hope your August is off to a good start. If you'd like to see more bicycles from around the world, click here.

Bertha von Steglitz

I have walked by Berta bear many times and thought, I've got to take a picture of her. Luckily for you, the last time I was at the Forum Steglitz I did. Of course, I love her red tones, but I also think her mosaic style is very appealing. Hope you agree!

A star

A beautiful starry decoration adorns the window at the gym where I like to work out sometimes. The move-in day went pretty well. Our furniture and stuff has moved in, even if we haven't, but hopefully we'll be able to make our new house a home in the next few days. There are just a few remaining projects that need to be completed before we can really unpack and get settled. I hope once that's done, I'll still have some time to enjoy the holiday season!

Holiday sparkles

Christmas is officially over, but most of the shopping centers around town will leave the decorations up until New Year's. I certainly don't mind as it gives me a chance to show a few more shots of the beautiful lights and reflections. These come to you from the Boulevard shopping center on Schlossstrasse. Enjoy! For more reflections, take a look at Weekend Reflections.

Holiday shopping

The shopping centers around Berlin go all out for the holidays with lots of decorated trees and lights. This view is from the Schloss shopping center near Rathaus Steglitz. I find it one of the better shopping centers, there are lots of good shops and a small food court as well. You can even do your grocery shopping in the basement! I am happy to say all my Christmas shopping is done, so I won't have to fight any crowds at the last minute. Whew!
