Summer skies

Looking at the Museum of Transportation from the canals in Kreuzberg. I just love the blue summer skies, you'll find more at Skywatch.

Französischer Dom

Blue skies shine above the French Cathedral on the Gendarmenmarkt Square. Unfortunately, today's skies are not so blue, but rather gray and rainy. Hope the summer weather returns soon. If you're looking for more signs, you'll find them here!

Blue skies in Kreuzberg

The beautiful, blue sky makes an excellent backdrop for the traditional red brick churches of Berlin.

On the ice

We had such a long cold spell in Berlin this winter that some of the smaller lakes were frozen over. I took the opportunity, along with many other Berliners, to walk across the lake. Though I wish I had dug out my ice skates, the ice was nice and smooth for skating (and it's faster!). It's Friday and you'll find more skies at Skywatch.

Sunset over Berlin

I caught this beautiful sky on German Unity Day. There was a special festival set up on the "fan mile" which leads up to the Brandenburg Gate. The weather was fantastic and it was fun to be out and about celebrating with others. You'll find more skies at Skywatch.

Thank goodness it's Friday! These past few weeks have been tough, but now I can breathe easy. I've got a few rounds of golf planned for the weekend, I just hope the weather holds. Hope you've got some fun ahead of you too!

Golden hour

There was a beautiful golden light on the Havel as we pulled back into the dock. The days are getting shorter, but I'm enjoying every last bit of summer that I can! You'll find more skies at Skywatch and more reflections at Weekend Reflections.

I am so glad the weekend is finally here. I'll be spending most of it on the golf course, the weather is supposed to be sunny and warm here in Berlin. What about you? Do you have any big plans? I hope so!

August theme day: City skyline

Here's a look at one of the icons of Berlin's skyline, the Fernsehturm, affectionately known to Berliners as the Telespargel. In the foreground you also have the lovely Oberbaumbrücke and if you look carefully between the two towers of the bridge, you can also see the Rotes Rathaus, Berlin's main City Hall.

Of course there are other Skyline views of Berlin that are popular, such as the Brandenburg Gate or a look out over the city from the Reichstag, but I find this view especially nice as it's right over the Spree river. And I was lucky to catch some paddlers making their way westward into the city.

I can't believe another month has rolled around. I don't want the summer to end! Hope you've been enjoying your sunny days as much as I have. For more interpretations of this month's theme, take a look here.

Sunset on the canal

The clouds catch the last of the light as the sun goes down in Berlin. Hope you have a great weekend planned and enjoy every last day of this fantastic summer! More skies can be found at Skywatch.

Sorry I haven't been posting here much. Work keeps me so busy, but I am keeping active on Facebook and Instagram. I'm also posting more regularly on my travel blog

PS: Happy Bastille Day to my French readers!

Silhouettes on Ku'damm

Hope you've got a lovely weekend ahead of you, it's another long one for us! If it doesn't rain and storm, I'll be on the golf course. For more skies, take a look at Skywatch.

PS: Happy Friday the 13th! Hope you bought some lottery tickets.

Looking up

Looking up into the blue skies from my vantage point on the cherry tree bench. Hope you have a great weekend. You'll find more skies of all kinds at Skywatch.

Angel's vantage

A view towards the heavens awaits you at the top of the Berliner Dom. It's well worth the walk up, for the wonderful views of the city and the skies. More skies can be found at Skywatch.

It's Friday again and I'm so glad! I'm going to see a basketball game this weekend, I hope it will be a win for Alba Berlin. If the weather permits, I'll probably also play some golf. What about you? Do you have any big plans for the weekend?

Telespargel reflected

At look at the Fernsehturm (aka the Telespargel) as reflected in one of the buildings on Alexanderplatz.

Another look at the TV Tower in her full glory. You'll find more reflections and Weekend Reflections and for more skies, head to Skywatch.

This is my last weekend as an unemployed person, so I'm trying me best to make the most of it! It's a bit cold for golf, but I do plan on going to see a movie and perhaps do a little shopping for a first day outfit. What about you? Do you  have any fun plans for the weekend?

Memoria Urbana Berlin

This beautiful dome structure celebrates freedom of conscience and immigration. It stands on the ground of the former Bethlehem Church which was a center of worship for religious outcasts from Bohemia who were invited to resettle in what was then Prussian Berlin by Frederick William I.

Unfortunately, the original church was destroyed during the bombings of WWII, but this monument entitled Memoria Urbana Berlin was erected as a temporary art installment in 2013. It was so well-received that local administrators got permission to make it permanent. With the recent wave of immigrants and refugees to Germany, I find this memorial even more poignant. We need only to look to the past to help shape the future.

I hope you have a blue sky weekend ahead of you. It's looking a bit gray and cloudy here, but we've had such a spectacular fall, I can hardly complain. You'll find more skies at Skywatch.

PS: Don't forget to stop by Halcyon Travels for a look at my recent trip to Israel.

Reflections on the 18th

I hope you enjoy this look at the golf course today. Unfortunately, I think my Friday afternoon rounds are a thing of the past now. But there's always next year! I'm off to Israel early tomorrow morning, but I'll be back towards the end of the month. I'll have plenty of pictures to show on my return, I'm sure. If you can't wait until then, check out my Instagram feed or follow me on Facebook. Until then, you can see more reflections here and more skies here.

Blues skies over the bridge

I recently made a trip out to Treptow and spent a lovely day walking through the Treptower Park and along the Spree. On my way, I came across the Insel der Jugend which was used by young people in the former East as a disco and meeting place. Today it houses a youth sporting club as well as a cafe and boat rentals. It looks like a fun place to hang out on a summer's day and I just might have to come back! For more sunny skies, take a look at Skywatch. And more reflections can be found at Weekend Reflections.

It's Friday again! Do you have any big plans for the weekend? There is a street festival in my neighborhood this weekend. I plan on seeing what they have to offer as well as playing a little golf. Hopefully the rain won't put a damper on those plans. Have fun, whatever you do!

Sunset over Wannsee

Another shot from the cruise I took last weekend. The sky was so beautiful and you can see more of them at Skywatch.

I'm sorry for being so quiet the past couple of days. My Internet suddenly went out, but I'm back now! Another weekend is here - do you have any big plans? I'm playing in the club championship at my golf course. I know I don't have any real chance to win, but I hope my good game will be available. In any case, it should be fun getting to know some new people.

Confidential to my sister: Happy Birthday!!!

Blue skies over the Spree

Blue skies abound over the Spree. I do hope the construction in this area will be over one of these days. It's Friday again. Do you have any big plans for the weekend? We have an out-of-town visitor coming in, so our guest room will be taking its maiden voyage. And of course, I have my interview this afternoon. I'm feeling quite nervous about it, but I'm pretty sure I can convince them I'm right for the job!

For more skies, take a look at Skywatch. And there's more from Vienna on my travel blog.

Blue skies above

The Sony Center at Potsdamer Platz is so photogenic. Especially when there's a blue sky! I hope you have some big plans for the weekend. Mine will include some golf, although I hope the weather warms up a little. For more skies, take a look at Skywatch.

PS: There's more of beautiful Vienna on my travel blog.

Blue skies

I don't remember the name of this church, but it looks great under a blue sky. Don't you agree? I'm away for the weekend, hope you have some nice plans too! For more skies, take a look at Skywatch.

PS: I've got a bonus Viennese sky for you here.

Blue skies

A beautiful blue sky peeks through the glass dome of the Reichstag. Hope your weekend will be a sunny one too! For more skies from around the world, visit Skywatch.
