This was a tough theme day for me as I usually delete all my out-of-focus shots right away! I thought it would be fun to play with the idea of focus, so I focused on the window frame and left the beautiful, fall-colored trees outside a bit blurry. Hope you enjoy my take on the theme and you'll find more examples from all over the world here.

May theme day: Smell
I had real trouble with this month's theme. I couldn't find anything suitable for "smell" and I didn't want to take a picture of spring flowers (most of which don't smell anyway). I finally decided on photographing something I like the smell of very much - Coco Chanel. It's my favorite perfume, though I probably don't wear it often enough.
Hope you found this month's theme easier than I did. For more scents from around the world, click here.

March theme day: Heimat
I must admit, I really struggled with this month's theme. I've moved around so much, it's hard for me to say exactly where I "belong", but one thing is for certain, wherever I am, I make it my home. Here's a look at the sofa where I do most of my blogging and knitting. I feel really happy resting and relaxing here, especially on a sunny, summer's day like this one back in July.
I hope you had an easier time with the theme. I'll be looking forward to seeing other versions of Heimat. You can see more of them too, just click here.

Profusion of pink
The rhododendrons in my MiL's garden are looking spectacular! I think this has been one of the best springs ever in Berlin... or maybe I just think that every year. Hope you are having an enjoyable weekend. Thursday was a holiday here, sorry for my sporadic posting and commenting, I hope these beautiful blossoms will make up for it!
Something old
The news from 1947. Found lining the walls of my MiL's house when she decided to do some renovations recently. It's fun to find a little piece of history like this.
Star of wonder
The holiday season is almost over. It's always a little sad to take the tree down, but it has to be done! Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and I wish you lots of love and joy in the new year.
Sorry I've been absent lately, but I won't have a reliable Internet connection until 20 January. I am hoping to make at least a few sporadic posts in between. Maybe even a few shots of the new apartment.
More workers
Continuing on yesterday's "worker" theme, here's a look at my kitchen from back in June. I assure you, it looks much different today! Although it's hard work, I think there is also some kind of fun to be had in destruction (in a controlled setting like this, of course).
Hope your week is well underway - I've sent in a few more job applications and I hope to be hearing something soon.
December theme day: Worker
With renovations ongoing in my apartment, I come into contact with a lot of workers. One of my most interesting interactions happened back in August. While tearing down the old wallpaper, we found an old wall safe in the bedroom. Of course there was no key, so we tracked down a safecracker who came and opened it for us.
We were all really excited when the safe opened to see what was inside. Sadly, there wasn't anything, but our worker built us a new key so we can use the safe in the future. As you can imagine, these kinds of specialized services are not cheap, but I think being able to tell the story of our safecracking is worth it! A new month is here and that means a new theme, for more workers from around the world, visit the CDP Theme Day.
