Stripes on stripes

Serendipity! I was in the right place at the right time. This woman in the stripey sweater was crossing the bridge in Volkspark Wilmersdorf just as the sun was making those wonderful stripey shadows from the barrier rails. Hope you have been having a wonderful weekend. It's rainy and gray here, but I'm planning to visit the Kathe Kollwitz Museum later on. Hopefully they will allow photos and I can share my visit with you. Until then, you can see more shadows at Shadow Shot Sunday.  

Back to bikes

This old bicycle has become a staple of my neighborhood. I walk by it several times a week and always think to myself, I've got to get a picture of that. With the announcement of the August theme day, I finally took my camera to the street and clicked a few shots (I also got funny looks from passers-by). 

It's difficult to show how the bike really appears; those hollyhocks have really become one with the bike. I sometimes wonder what has happened to this bike's owner, did they have a severe injury and can't ride anymore? Or did the planter of the hollyhocks park the bike here on purpose? Another mystery, but every time I pass by, I smile. And that's a good thing!

Traveling butler

The BSR comes up with the funniest campaigns to help keep the city clean. Reiner the "bin butler" makes an appearance every once in awhile on Friedrichstrasse or other heavily-trafficked areas to remind people to put their bins in the bin! The Kreuzburger

I love the name of this burger joint - a play on words on the district it's located in, Kreuzberg. For more signs from around the world, check out Signs, Signs.

Toilet mural

The Trabbi and colorful painting certainly make this public toilet look nicer, although I'm still not sure I'd like to use it! Sorry for my absence of late, but being a tour guide is tough work. My parents are back safely home and I've got an overwhelming amount of photos, so sit back and enjoy! You can also see more murals at Monday Mural.

Wittenberg in black and white

Here's a look back at the city of Wittenberg. Something about this street really appeals to me, maybe it's the combination of the cobblestone streets and the old brick buildings, and, of course, the lamppost. Somehow I find the picture not as good as the real scene. Does that ever happen to you?

Is anyone else having problems with blogger emailing comments? I used to get an email for every comment I receive on this blog, but now some are not coming through. Strange...

April theme day: Triangles

Potsdamer Platz is one of my favorite areas of Berlin to photograph. Although it hasn't really taken off as the city centre planners had hoped for, I still think it's a great area to walk around and enjoy, especially if you are interested in modern architecture.

Giant mural

I'm not sure if this mural is a representation of a real person, but I found it very striking. I also like the way the Telespargel is sticking out in the background. Hope you had a wonderful weekend. For more murals, head to Mural Monday.
