a photo a day from germany's capital city
I remember those days well.
I remember reading about the wall going up and people trying to escape before it was completed. Terrible!
we both stepped back in time today....i like that star, it would fit in well here!
I remember those days very well indeed.
It is hard to believe some of things that happen.
Signs of a grim time.
These signs are from a historic location important to the Cold War. How fine that Germany is now unified and there is no need for Checkpoint Charlie any longer.
I remember when your camera would have been confiscated for having taken a picture like this.
We never thought it would change!
Checkpoint Charlie still retains an aura of discomfort. A cloudy season in history. Interesting photos.
Nice shots.Frankly My Dear
It all seems so long ago that there were 2 Germanys and 2 Berlins, but I remember it well.
Checkpoint Charlie - the stuff of many Cold War novels. I still get a bit of a chill just hearing the name. Not a fun time!
I find the signs a bit chilling. I lived behind the Iron Curtain for a while and it was a grim place.
Very poignant....how times have changed...
yes, this really is quite recent history in the scheme of things -- sends shivers down my spine seeing these reminders.
History and events evolve so rapidly sometimes.
I remember the final years. Try explaining it to someone born since the millennium.
Thanks for visiting my blog. I love hearing from you!
