Appreciating the art

I enjoy taking pictures of people looking at art. This pair seems to be very engrossed with this work and I can certainly understand why as I also spent quite some time looking at all the details. It's a work by Anselm Kiefer entitled Lilith am roten Meer. It's not exactly a happy piece, but it's definitely meaningful.

On a lighter note, the weekend is here. Hope you have some big plans. I hope to enjoy the nice weather on the golf course and I'm going to see Carmina Burana. Fun times ahead!

  9. Ah, Anselm. We have some of his work in our museum. No wonder he has lived in France for years.

  14. Because I wanted to know more, I clicked on the title and got this. "It literally means, “Lilith on the Red Sea” which, coupled with the children’s clothes, pertains to her demon children, and the human children of Adam that were killed because she wouldn’t return to him in the garden of Eden to be subservient. This is only one version of the myth, and she has been mentioned in multiple religions, but to some people she has become a symbol of feminism, and of a woman making huge sacrifices for equality." Now it makes a lot more sense to me and I can truly appreciate your photo because it is a rather enigmatic piece of art.
