The spires of Saint Nikolai-Kirche peek out from between two buildings in the Nikolaiviertel. Although this part of the city has become a bit touristy, it's still a nice place for a stroll. The city of Berlin began right here back in the medieval days and Saint Nick's is the city's oldest church. Unfortunately, most of the buildings in the quarter did not survive the war and have been rebuilt in the style of the era.
The church stands out beautifully!
ReplyDeleteLovely spires - I like this pic!
ReplyDeleteVery historic area. Good looking spires. Building doesn't look like it could be the oldest in the city. Good looking edifice overall.
ReplyDeleteIt's only the oldest church and it has definitely had some post-war renovation. ;-)
DeleteI love the angle of your shot, Hal!
ReplyDeleteThe windows in particular look beautiful...and I'm not accustomed to seeing a clock on the face of a church.
ReplyDeleteI like how they almost lean into your shot!
ReplyDeleteI love all the buildings made out of the red bricks! After Hamburg you should visit the smaller town of Luebeck - stunning example of brick gothic architecture!
ReplyDeleteTwins!
ReplyDeleteMy first thought: Twins :-)
ReplyDeleteMy second thought: Beautiful windows and great light.
