It turns out, taking pictures at night on a boat is really difficult! I'm really sorry the focus of this shot isn't better, but it's one of the best of the series. The boat tour was really interesting and I'd love to go back and do it again next year. In addition to the castles and palaces being lit up, there was also a fireworks show, a shadow dance and a brass band.
This is the Sacrow Church which is famous for the beautiful frescoes inside depicting Jesus and the Evangelists. Obviously, we didn't see those - but the church did look beautiful all lit up. Hope you agree!
It looks wonderful, and reflects in the water perfectly!
ReplyDeleteyou've managed to capture it quite nicely
ReplyDeleteGreat reflection indeed.
ReplyDeleteYes, I would love to take a class and conquer night photography. However, I love this one. You can feel the stillness of the night. Beautiful. I need to go find out what the theme is for Sept. I forget.

It's a fantastic shot! It reveals full beauty of the church at night.
ReplyDeleteIt glows! So beautiful. Tom The Backroads Traveller
ReplyDeleteGreat reflection!
ReplyDeleteit glows like gold...beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful, I love the light and reflection!
ReplyDeleteVery nice. I think I would have enjoyed this trip and seeing all these places lit up along the water.
ReplyDeleteI have struggled with night boat trips, too. It is hard to figure out the settings to use, isn't it? I remember a trip on the Moscow River when I took about 50 photos and deleted all but two or three, and they weren't very sharp either. The best ones were shot with the "no flash" setting on my camera, letting Canon make the decisions for me!
ReplyDeleteI rarely use a flash at all. The problem was, I didn't take into account that the boat is also moving (and pretty quickly). So even though I had the camera on a flat, steady surface - things got blurred just by the simple fact that we were moving. Ah well, live and learn!
DeleteIt's beautifully lit at night!
ReplyDeleteHey, wasn't that s'posed to be for weekend reflections? :-)
ReplyDeleteI couldn't wait that long! ;-)
DeleteThis is a lovely shot!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful shot, Hal!
ReplyDeleteIt is a nice shot nonetheless...
ReplyDeleteNight traveling a river is so exciting. You get to see real 'nightlife'.
ReplyDeleteA river is always wonderful ... And that night excursion sounds wonderful. The lights must have been magnificent
ReplyDeleteLighting and the reflection are very well recorded in this photo.
ReplyDeleteIn spite of the motion, I can see what a lovely river excursion you took!
ReplyDeleteYou're so right, I've tried to do it on the Thames at night and it's very tricky. This is a great shot, I'm so glad you enjoyed the trip...
