I don't quite remember what kind of establishment this sign was for, but I found it somewhere in the Nikolaiviertel. The Nikolaiviertel is the oldest part of Berlin (though it has been rebuilt since the wars) and it's always fun to take a stroll through. There are loads of these old shingle-style signs there and I love seeing them all. Guess I'll have to go back and investigate what this place is offering. Don't forget you can see more signs at Signs, Signs.

Maybe a fur shop ?
ReplyDeleteBeautifully decorated sign !
Some day I'd like to see where these signs are made.
ReplyDeleteIt really pays off to give some of these signs a close look.
ReplyDeleteGreat sign. I like it.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a restaurant to me. I like the craftmanship of it.
ReplyDeleteI love these signs!
ReplyDeleteMaybe an exotic fur store? What woman wouldn't want an ermine wrap? :)
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't want one. Ick!
DeleteSounds like a pub to me. :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a pub but could be a fur coat shop!
ReplyDeleteI don't think a fur shop would be in this part of town, it's really touristy here. I am seriously going to go back and check it out. I tried looking on google maps street view, but no joy. It's probably just an old sign and there's no shop anymore.
DeleteHow cool!
ReplyDeleteIsn´t this lovely! Great find!
ReplyDeleteThe ermine doesn't look too worried about the fox. My first thought would be a pub, but a furrier also sounds plausible.
ReplyDeletebtw, I fixed the link.
Thank you!
DeletePerhaps once a fur shop, though I doubt there's much of a market left for that anymore.
ReplyDeleteneat!
ReplyDeletePretty! Sounds like a good name for a Pub, but I may be thinking of the wrong country ;))
ReplyDeleteI like this sign! :)
ReplyDeleteSo ornate!
ReplyDeletePub. Fur shop. Either sounds plausible and the sign is great.
ReplyDeleteVery nice! I really enjoyed seeing signs like this on my trip this past summer.
ReplyDeleteWell, some people would wear the pelt of either one. A furrier, maybe?
ReplyDeleteHow adorable.
ReplyDeleteFrankly My Dear
It's a grand sign, whatever it belonged to!
ReplyDeleteVery cool. Love the design of it!
ReplyDeleteLove the place (Zille Museum and the Erzgebirge shop opposite it, the church....) And love these signs. I always hunt for them in Germany!
ReplyDeleteSuch a nice sign. I like this style.
ReplyDeleteI did go back to the Nikolai Viertel yesterday to see what kind of shop is here. It's a fabric shop. It's not even really called the Fox and the Ermine. Probably this sign was for something else in ye olde days. I still love it though!
ReplyDeleteA very nice find.
