All aboard!

This bus (a 1980s vintage), was running on the current 100 line - Alexander Platz to Zoologischer Garten, making it a true East to West line.

This is also another Einmannwagen, the driver both drives and sells tickets. I hope you've enjoyed this little trip back in time. I loved seeing all the old buses and I hope the BVG will do this again!

  1. This is fun! Must be a bear to keep these up and running, though.

  2. A lot of fun to have seen this. I don't know how many throwback buses our transit system still has around.

  3. It's nice to see the newer buses across the street, too. These vintage ones look to be in pretty nice shape. I do hope you continue to see them from time to time.

  4. I can mostly read the signs around the door, which gives me some hope for our planned visit. I had two years of German in high school and we have visited, I think, four times. My language skills are not sharp.

    1. Don't worry, you hear more English in Berlin than German these days.

  5. I like this. The old style and the great colours and light in your images.

  6. Great looking bus but I assume they come out only for special occasions and normally you have to catch the bus you see on the other side of the street.

    1. Yes, these buses were out for the celebration of 2 years of reunited public transport service in Berlin. The "normal" Berlin buses are obviously more modern, but we still have double-deckers, it just depends on the line. In fact, most buses on line 100 and 200 (the main East - West routes) are double-deckers.

  8. This was an enjoyable series. It looks to me like the buses are in good shape but I suppose the new ones are more efficient.

  11. Love the double deckers; they always seem so top heavy. As a teen, I used to think, "all the cool people are upstairs."
