You may be wondering why I haven't shown you any of the art. There's a simple answer - photography of the art was not allowed. The Boros Sammlung is actually a private collection that Christian Boros, the owner and resident of the bunker, has been kind enough to open up to the public. I did, however, sneak these two shots on my way to the toilet before the tour started.
I don't recall the name of the artist who created these sculptures. It's a shame I couldn't really get the whole room as it's quite open, not what you'd expect in a bunker. Hope the lack of art won't stop you from coming back tomorrow for more on the bunker.
Really enjoying this series, Hal! Thanks a lot for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAh, that would explain it!
ReplyDeleteI don't like it when photography is prohibited, but I'm glad you were able to be a bit sneaky and get these shots!
ReplyDeleteIt is the owner's private art collection, so I understand that he doesn't want us taking pictures. But I agree that in public museums, photos should be allowed (without flash, of course as I wouldn't want to damage anything).
DeleteSomeone resides in the bunker?
ReplyDeleteI'm more respectful of no-photography policies in my old age but years ago I used to delight in turning off the camera beep and taking shots from the hip.
Remember, I was on a guided tour with 10 people. Not much chance to be sneaky.
DeleteSome day this clandestine skill may come in handy. :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame! I'm glad you got these shots because these sculptures are very striking...
ReplyDeleteAnd I do wonder: what kind of a person would want to live in a bunker???
The bunker is not underground. They were allowed to change the interior architecture and built a glass "penthouse" on top. Of course, we didn't visit it, but we saw photos. It actually doesn't look too bad.
DeleteNice ones and I must admit that spiderweb like artworks do not wrong in these surroundings. A good choice from the curator. Pity that photography isn't allowed.
ReplyDeleteFascinating!
ReplyDeleteMy goodness. How interesting!
ReplyDeletesneaky spider webs
ReplyDeleteThis is an interesting piece. Glad you took this shot on the sly. I'll be back. The Bunker interests me.
ReplyDeleteThis is really impressive! Too bad that it wasn't allowed to take photos.
ReplyDeleteI thought the bunker was a kinda creepy place before looking at these pictures. But now, wow, these remind me of giant spider webs! Spooky! :)
ReplyDeleteI really like these!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your illicit gains!
ReplyDeleteStealth photos often give a better clue to the surroundings.
ReplyDeleteNice art !!!
ReplyDeleteHaha! I don't know how many times I've done that Hal, nice work :) Tres interesting artwork and of course we're coming back tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteI still don't dare do it... :-)
ReplyDeleteMy finger sometimes slips when in a no-photo zone, too, though I would be respectful of a private home.
