Spiraling up

It is perhaps difficult to tell from this photo, but this is the staircase that takes you to to the top of the Juliusturm at Zitadelle Spandau. It was interesting that the stairs were against the walls of the tower instead of being right in the center. It was quite the walk up, though I find coming down is often worse! For more treasures, take a look at Tuesday Treasures.

  1. That certainly is a different point of view.

  2. So that takes indeed some time to get on top but a beautiful construction again.

  3. I would never be able to climb up to the top, much less look down! Wonderful shot.

  4. Good for you going to the top. I would not have been able to do that.

  5. Terrific composition! There's a monument in southern Ontario that has the same effect in terms of being hard on your legs to ascend or descend.

  6. That's quite a climb to dizzying heights! Great photo!

  7. A rather eerie shot! I almost always found it more difficult to come down stairs than climb up them. And runners by and large would rather run up a hill than down a hill. Going down is dangerous!

  8. It looks so irregular. We have a beautiful old water tower with stairs attached to the outer wall. And of course, coming down involves a different set of muscles and visual skills.

We finalized our itinerary for September. Found a beautiful apartment through Airbnb on Torstraße right in Mitte. Will contact you about dates later on.

  9. On the outer wall!! That is a bit different. I agree about the coming down stairs, especially at the moment with my dratted knee :)
