Due to construction of the new Stadtschloss, the Marx-Engels Forum has been all but lost. After some searching, I was able to find my old friends earlier this year. These two guys have always drawn tourists who like to climb up on Marx's lap and pose for a photo. This large work is a leftover from the GDR days, but there's something kitschy and unreal about it that I like.
Very solum looking they are, but so was a lot of art from the GDR
ReplyDeleteHis knees look well worn. :-)
ReplyDeleteFunny when I look at these two famous faces. Beards and mustaches are in great demand by the younger people todays. I wonder if the ideas of these two will also make a comeback.
ReplyDeleteI get the impression his knees have had lots of people sitting on them over the years ;-)
ReplyDeleteKitschy and unreal is a good description.
ReplyDeleteAre they 'stoned'? They look it.
ReplyDeleteyou can sure see the 'rub' on his lap. :)
ReplyDeleteThey look a little stiff like they are posing for a photo. I can see whey people would enjoy climbing into his lap for a photo. I wonder what he would make of such hijinks. A few years ago, I saw Marx' grave in Highgate Cemetery in London. He's well visited there. There are always people coming to pay their respects.
ReplyDeleteThey do look quite serious!
ReplyDeleteThe knees certainly do look like they've seen a lot of people posing on them. They do look like quite a pair!
ReplyDeleteHis lap is well polished!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that Marx's lap is well polished. It warms up an otherwise stiff pair.
ReplyDeleteRedPat said what I was going to say!
ReplyDeleteWhere did they move to? Last time they were not far from the Alexanderplatz....
