The Carlos Giuliano Park is not far from the Mauer Garden which I showed you earlier this week. I did a little research and found that Carlos Giuliani was an Italian man who was shot and killed during G8 protests in Genoa, Italy in 2001. I'm not sure why there is a park named after him in Berlin, but there it it! You'll find more information on Giuliani here. And you can get your weekly sign fix at Signs, Signs.
not sure any violent death is for a good reason, but...
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking there was a correlation between the police brutality here and in Ferguson. I am sure this protestor was un-armed as guns are hard to come by here in Europe.
DeleteI agree with TexWisGirl...
ReplyDeleteA timely choice... and good in black and white.
ReplyDeleteHe must have had some connection to Berlin.
ReplyDeleteI put in that link to the park's website. I couldn't find any ties to Berlin in their information. A mystery...
DeleteIronic in a way--the park.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Jack Hal, there must be a connection of some kind to validate the memorial.
ReplyDeleteI never know what interesting things are going to turn up on the blogs I visit. Why in the world would he have a memorial in Berlin? Maybe he was a counterspy? Well, it could be true!
ReplyDeleteI'm with Jack too! There must be a connection.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting!
ReplyDeleteAnd it's a nice sign too.
ReplyDeleteA park would be a great tribute to anyone.
ReplyDeleteHow curious! and an interesting looking sign, too.
ReplyDeleteProtesting can be a dangerous activity. Tom The Backroads Traveller
ReplyDeletehmm...quite an attractive and unusual sign!
ReplyDeleteThis is curious. Perhaps he had some good friends in Berlin. I wouldn't otherwise expect to see a memorial so far away...
ReplyDeleteinteresting...there's more to this story! i like the sign :)
ReplyDeletewell, this is surprising me a lot... but I don't comment... I know the story of course as Italian.
ReplyDeletehave a nice day
