I found these wonderful details on a building in Dorontheenstrasse. I love how the guy on the left seems to be engrossed in his book while the man on the right is looking down at passers-by. I guess we all have to find ways to pass the time.

Both contrasting, but equally elegant... well spotted!
ReplyDeleteI see also the esculape. Must have something to do with medicine education or institution. Yes a great entrance.
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love the ornamentation?
ReplyDeleteWonderful details!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. This is the entrance to the Technical Studies Department of the Humboldt University.
ReplyDeleteVery impressive. One seldom, if ever, finds such architecture in the U.S.
ReplyDeletekind of cute. kind of creepy, too. :)
ReplyDeleteAmazing what they thought would add to a building back then.
ReplyDeleteAn expression of two styles of learning maybe; reading vs. observing.
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful!
ReplyDeleteGreat details!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful detail work on the building, Halcyon!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful And Dussmann isn't far away...
ReplyDeleteI don't think I would have noticed their heads are oriented differently. I'm going to have to start looking with the critical eye of a child, "same/different" and stop glossing over!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I also like the reflection of the blue sky in the windows.
ReplyDeleteSplendid!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place! I too like seeing the reflections of the sky in the windows.
ReplyDeleteI like that it's not perfectly symmetrical and they are certainly interesting and well done. It looks like a lovely building.
ReplyDeleteSo, do you prefer people watching or the life of the mind? Pick your statue.
