A shack in Potsdam

I recently took a bike ride around the Wannsee and found this "summer cottage" nearby. It looks more like Bavarian-style architecture than something from Berlin or Brandenburg to me, but I'm pretty sure I could spend my summers (and winters) here just fine! You'll find more fences at Good Fences and more skies at Skywatch.

Friday is finally here! Do you have any big plans? A friend of mine from the US is here and we are going to do the full city tour which will also be a good chance for me to snap some new shots. Happy weekend!

  4. A shack? Really? I would happily call this 'shack' home. Beautiful architecture and it is surrounded by beauty.

  7. Beautiful building and lovely surroundings. Only if the overcast shadows on the buildings was a bit brighter, the facade of the building would be even more outstanding.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

  9. It would be interesting to know more about it and in particular if it was eine der Datschen der Bonzen...

    1. Not a Datschen. I learned from my friend who did the bike tour with me that this is actually a Swiss-style "cottage".

    1. It's a small creek, but there wasn't much water in it when we rode by.

  14. Just missing the petunias and geraniums in window boxes, but then, the owners probably ARE in Bavaria. I'm with you in not minding that little pad as a year-rounder.

  19. How wonderful to have a visitor Hal! Enjoy!
I agree, although it is absolutely gorgeous, it doesn't look like it belongs.
    Oh for a peek inside!

  21. Wow, a whole city tour in one day? Don't forget to take your friend(s) to a coffee place with the famous German Kuchen (since it's the weekend! By the way, do you know about Kaffee Klatch? Sunday afternoon (the whole afternoon!) - an array of desserts and coffee and tea - won't have to make dinner, because everyone is full:)
Right about the Bavarian style:) I like it - romantic!

  22. Looks to be a bit more than a shack from this angle.
