This week I'm taking you on a tour of the Märkisches Museum. You may remember I showed you Big Roland who stands guard outside the museum awhile back. After walking by this museum so many times, I finally visited last June on the free day. It was surprisingly interesting and would definitely be a good choice for families with older kids. It mainly showcases the history of the city of Berlin. And of course, Berlin wouldn't be complete without its bear! This guy even has his own shield, though I'm don't believe I've seen that crest before.
PS: Sorry for the long absence. I got back from Israel last week, but wasn't feeling well enough to sit in front of the computer. I think things are getting better, hope you haven't missed your daily dose of Berlin too much!
The bear and shield look quite distinctive!
ReplyDeleteGood to see you back, Halcyon.
Hey, welcome back! Hope you had a great time besides coming back sick. Yuck.
ReplyDeleteA very warm welcome back to you, dear Hal! Lovely photo, too! I am so sorry you weren't feeling well, and I hope you are feeling better and better as time goes on. Sending you a warm hug and much love. :)
ReplyDeleteI like him! Welcome back.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if you heard that Birdman passed away a week ago - it is so sad.
I forgot to mention...tomorrow (October 27th, Tuesday) is my birthday and I have a special blog post planned for this day. I hope you are able to come and celebrate with me.
ReplyDeleteYou were missed! And thank you for the encouragement to travel, as I shall soon be doing. Glad you had a safe home.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful shield !
ReplyDeleteGlad you're back!
ReplyDeleteWe missed Berlin photos AND you! Tell me please what is the significance of the bear and Berlin.
ReplyDeleteHope you're feeling better, love the bear and his shield!
ReplyDeleteGlad your back but sorry you haven't been feeling well!
ReplyDeleteOh I did miss my daily dose of Berlin but seeing Big Roland has cheered me up...hope you feel better soon...
ReplyDeleteThat bear looks desperate! The eagle on the should might symbolise the " Brandenburger Adler" . They co-existed from the 13th century until the 19th century. Did you know that there is a day of the bear in March every year in Berlin?
ReplyDeleteHope that you are feeling better now?
