This is a bust of the famed law reformer, Samuel von Cocceji. Under the Prussian King Frederick the Great, he made reforms to the law and judicial process which helped lay the foundations for modern German law. The museum finds him so cool, he got this special place of honor under one of the rose-style windows. You can read more about Sam here.
This is awesome! Thanks so much for sharing, Hal! :)
ReplyDeleteInteresting discovery. I like it.
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting man he must have been. Have to admit that I never heard of him before...
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I hadn't heard of him either! But the bio I found about him was really interesting.
DeleteThat rose-style window is attractive, definitely a place of honour for Cocceji's bust.
ReplyDeleteThese days the rule of law and the practice of justice has become ever more important...so thanks to Cocceji! BTW, I'm still on break but am posting occasionally at L & L Photography (http://www.landlfotos.com). Sounds like things are going well for you.

ReplyDeleteSam's fame didn't cross the ocean, at least when I was in law school. But, he did get nice placement here.
