An sign found in an old building I explored on a photography expedition back in May. Apparently, this was once a fire alarm, but the sign says it's no longer working. I love that old-timey writing. It could say "you're stupid", but it would still look nice! For more signs, head to Signs, Signs.
laughed at your comment. :)
ReplyDeleteI, too, laughed at your comment. :) This is very cool!
ReplyDeleteFascinating to see the images that came up under a Google search for "Feuermelder". :-)
ReplyDeleteI love that lettering. Is it no longer in use in Germany?
ReplyDeleteI got a laugh out of that comment, and yes, the lettering style is quite eye catching.
ReplyDeleteDramatic contrasting colors.
ReplyDeleteI had a friend decades ago who could do that style of calligraphy. It's an art. And you're right: it can say nearly anything and still look beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI would be very impressed by anyone who could actually write this way!
DeleteOld signs are great to find
ReplyDeleteA real classic, great shot!
ReplyDeleteThat font has a bit of a royal look to it.
ReplyDeleteVerrrrrry interesting! I suppose that most people in Berlin could read that sign with no trouble. The font is rather ornate, but gives the old alarm a bit of class. I thought it said "You are really stupid" and I was a little put out. So glad you clarified the matter. :))
ReplyDeleteReally vintage!
ReplyDeleteGood find!
ReplyDeleteNice!
ReplyDeleteAs a kid, I had a hard time reading old German and then somewhere along the way I got used to it! This is way cool!
ReplyDeleteI have a hard time reading the old German script, still. but I agree, it could say anything and it would look nice!
ReplyDeleteFine looking sign with its fancy script.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the translation, I was beginning to feel stupid. Tom The Backroads Traveller
ReplyDeletesimply a nice photo.
ReplyDeleteMy SIGNS, SIGNS
Odd that they chose that font.
ReplyDeleteThis is a super German font. All the old-timey stuff looks like this (or fancier). :)
DeleteThe old stylish script seems to suggest that this fire alarm may have been in some important building.
ReplyDeleteI like the look of the old German script. (But it's so hard to read - I once had a German penpal who wrote using it.)
ReplyDeleteFunny detail !
ReplyDeleteWhat an nice effort somebody took to inform you in case of fire that this fire alarm is not longer working. Still a nice sign ...funny that nobody removed it to sell at the flea market "am 17ten Juni".
ReplyDeletehahahha. Yes, I can feel the respect as the sign tells me I'm stupid.
