Happy Go Lucky

I found this interesting mural on the outside of the Happy Go Lucky hotel on Stuttgarter Platz here in Berlin. The hotel advertises itself as "artist friendly" and allows guests to add art to selected rooms and the courtyard. I think that's a great idea, although perhaps the artists need a bit more supervision. I'm not sure a depiction of the crazy hotel manager from The Shining is what you really want to see when walking into a hotel!

Here's a better look at the colorful bench. It almost gets camouflaged in the first shot and it's definitely worth a closer look. Hope your week is off to a good start, for more murals head over to Monday Mural.

  3. I like colour and this mural is full of it. Even the bench has a colourful paint job. This sounds like it is fun a place to hang out.

  6. That is a very special entrance to a hotel and very inviting I think, must attract interesting visitors with paint and brushes in their hands.

  10. Happy face overload! Mixed message with the faces...all is not what it seems being the message, perhaps?

  11. Got to admit I've never seen anything like this before. Unique. Unusual. Clever. Attractive. Artsy. Obviously, the place is catering to a particular type of person. I don't think they'd want to see any of my art on their walls! :)

  14. Fascinating idea and the colors at least are gorgeous. The bench (which I totally didn't see in the first picture) would look great here on our Florida lanai!

  16. Halcyon, this hotel is just spectacular. I suspect I would walk past and take photos and stay elsewhere, but I still love the color and the artwork.

  19. I love this Hal, what a find! Ha, it wouldn't be interesting and unique if it all were to be 'supervised' ;)

  21. i painted this!....what you see above is only 2/3rds of it actually...and i also painted the managers on the inside as muppets, statler and waldorf....and a large heart mural manatees and an invisible girl......i was told i had to paint smileys and hearts on the front and that's all the direction i got....it's just supposed to be fun and colourful...no hidden meaning in any of it as a girl above suggested....and yeah, painted the bench too....glad some people like the buzz... https://www.facebook.com/DomBrowneMurals/ there's a link to my portfolio on facebook if anyone wants to see more of my art or even to check out the other murals, from inside happygolucky, which i mentioned above.....
