My recent subway station tour took us to Gleisdreieck which translates to Track Triangle station. There are two different lines that meet up here and they really do make a triangle, although they come in at different levels, so there is no danger of the two trains crashing. Unfortunately, this was not always the case and Berlin's most deadly transport accident happened here in the early days of the U-Bahn. Two trains had a head-on collision and one car fell off the elevated track, eighteen people died, but luckily there haven't been any fatal accidents on Berlin's system since then.
U1 und U2... This is torture, I want to be in Berlin so bad!
